Sassy

Hi, my name is Sassy.  I am the boss around here, and I know it.  I enjoy spending my days strutting, pecking, and eating.  My favorite foods are grains and vegetables.  Want to know a secret?  I like to eat spiders too, the bigger the better!  I am quite friendly; I like when grownups hold me and children pet me.

Ginger

Hi, I'm Ginger, and I am the diva of the group.  I don't always like people to pet me, as they might mess up my feather fluffing.  I am also the noisiest of the group, but that's because I want everyone to hear my singing voice. While I will probably ignore you, feel free to come by and check out my beautiful feathers!

Batman

I.  Am.  Batman.  I am stealthy and elusive; it's a rare day you'll get a good photo of me.  I like to hang out in the bat cave, and use my detective skills to fight crime.  I tend to keep to myself, mostly to protect my identity.  "Come on, to the Bat Cave. There's not a moment to lose!"

Which came first?

As it turns out, sometimes you do know which came first, the chicken or the egg. In this case, the chickens came first, via donation from Teacher Tammy's friend. Three chickens, complete with chicken coop, are the newest addition to the CDRC family.

These happy chickens have their own separate fenced area next to the playground to live. This provides an opportunity for children to interact with the chickens, but keeps the chickens off the playground. Much cleaner this way!

The black and white chicken is named "Sassy."

The blonde and black one are still waiting for names. The preschool class has been brainstorming, and they are always looking for new ideas, so leave a comment with any name suggestions!

As it turns out, these chickens are experts in the egg laying department! So what's a preschool to do with a sudden influx of eggs? Have a cooking day of course! These photos come from today's Preschool circle.

Thanks Teacher Tammy and CDRC for our new home!

Remember, we still need names, so leave comments with your name suggestions to be added to the voting!
